Motor Protection

The electric motor is protected against power surges by means of a cut-out device, which is part of the star delta box.

A thermal trip switch avoids the electric motor overheating.

Settings for a 3-phase, alternating current motor

a) for on / off starter
     rated current (A) according to motor specifications

b) for star delta starter
     rated current (A) × 0,58 at 380 V and 50 Hz
     rated current (A) × 0,58 at 220 V and 50 Hz

Testing

If a single phase is disconnected, the motor's fuse should blow after ca. 20 seconds (i.e. the contacter switches the motor off).
